The Light of Awareness

To see or not to see- this is our question?

Mindsight illuminates our open awareness with the reflective radiance of clear seeing. It lights up our Way to be aware and be attentive in the here and now. It is this light which helps us to embrace and embody our direct experiences as a whole- yet as impermanent and impersonal arisings simple and beautiful in the insight they bring us to touch the mystery of our own being as well as the core of our own humanity.

With clear seeing, the light and energy of our mindsight becomes a vehicle to transmute the architecture of our brains by how we use it and what it is used for. There are newly formed neurons, connections, and networks readied to receive sensory impulses in fresh and transforming ways. In this space of illuminated awareness, we are open to a quality of consciousness- and to a quality of our own nature that is spacious, expansive, lucid, and free of conceptual clutter.

It is the light of our own awareness that calls us to awaken- the light of our primordial wisdom- the reflective light of what is really part of our own nature and the nature of our experience itself. This resonating and reflecting light precedes any thought or conception- it is simply there to see itself.

This light of our awareness brings us closer to our own experiences- shifting and transforming our relationship to be more direct and intimate with our moment-to -moment happenings… with the way things are. What becomes more illuminated are the subtleties of what we experience. Much of what is ordinary and mundane now appears rather extraordinary in light of the curiosity to see what was habitually in darkness. What comes into focus is not limited by the “thinking mind” as in awareness there is the “observing mind”- the “illuminated mind” which is by nature, inclusive. This “light” is an open invitation to experience all aspects of our humanity without fear or judgment. As radical as this may seem, the power of transformation is held in the light of observation- the energy to be, to be released, and to be free…

The subtleties and simplicity of mind, body, and experience flourish with our free yet concentrated attention in illuminated awareness. With light, we see the nature of our happiness and suffering… the nature of our habits… and the Way to penetrate and dissolve the energies of mind that keep us prisoners in our own bodies. To embody this light is to shine forth a Way to freedom- although simple and ordinary, its enduring value brings the good steward of its gift a fuller and more vivacious quality of consciousness.

In the stillness- the quiet and calm serenity of awareness there is light to be found with the curious heart that cares enough to sit through the pain and darkness of real change. Do you have such a heart?
