Awakening

Saturday, July 9th, 2011

The more we engage in reflective awareness and inquiry the less resistance there is to what is happening. Habitual resistance causes us a great deal of suffering as we continually grasp at the pleasant and try to avoid the unpleasant. Be honest about what you see with open awareness.

Awakening

Friday, July 8th, 2011

Our lives are so much fuller when we are “simply happy”. Sounds easy, but we often complicate our lives and the simple changes we need to make in following this path remain elusive throughout most of our adult lives. Be honest about what you see with open awareness.

Awakening

Thursday, July 7th, 2011

In the absence of “loss”, we fear our own life to live without the other, and our own death as it is uncertain how we, too, will come to pass. Be honest about what you see with open awareness.

Awakening

Wednesday, July 6th, 2011

The energy of “staying with it” in the here and now has to be stronger than the inclination to react- to be swept away by our conditioning. Be patient- this takes time and practice. Be honest about what you see with open awareness.

Awakening

Tuesday, July 5th, 2011

In the “pause” and “empty space” of the “thinking mind”, we are free of our patterns- to “see”, “listen”, and “sense” what is actually happening. Be honest about what you see with open awareness.

Awakening

Monday, July 4th, 2011

In the core of an upsetting situation- watch how your mind’s activities (i.e. thoughts, memories, associations, etc.) will affect your experience. Can you calmly and gently discern how much is purely mind vs. reality? Be honest about what you see with open awareness.

Awakening

Sunday, July 3rd, 2011

In our practice, the “openness” I often refer to is the release of old patterns. Be honest about what you see with open awareness.

Awakening

Saturday, July 2nd, 2011

It’s purposeful not only to examine our experiences but our “states” within those happenings. If a situation angers us- we look at the occurrence and our own anger within it. Be honest about what you see with open awareness.

Awakening

Friday, July 1st, 2011

The viewfinder of the singular and separate “me”, “myself”, and mine” limits the spectrum of what we see, sense, and feel. Be honest about what you see with open awareness.
