Thinking Outside the Box: 9 Dots Puzzle
by meditative - February 27th, 2016.Filed under: Insights for Mindful Intelligence, Mindfulness for Parents & Children.
This is a relatively challenging puzzle for children (sometimes their parents too) that helps them to think outside of the box- expanding the boundaries of thought & perception. While engaged in this exercise children’s thought patterns and conventional perception often limit their ability to creatively work through the puzzle outside of its 4-sided (square) boundaries.
The goal of the puzzle is to link all 9 dots using four straight (continuous) lines or fewer, without lifting the pen (pencil) and without tracing the same line more than once. *Hint: There is more than one solution starting at one of the four corners.
If they haven’t already mastered it, let your child or children give it a try without first “Googling” for the solution …
