Relatedness & Mindfulness

Parts of us may be broken, sick, or shattered yet we are still whole…
Degree of connectedness- degree of association and kinship with self and others. What is our particular manner of connectedness? How does our relationship with one another- with our own being become defined? What isolates us from ourselves and from others? What are we afraid to look at and reveal? Are we that incomplete?
Our mindfulness practice helps us to overcome long-standing habits, patterns, and perceptions that are just not completely true about our relatedness and our wholeness. We must come to learn not to fear our “brokenness”- brokenness and wholeness exist at once- they are inseparable. We need to recognize and honor that which is ours that may be broken, fractured, sick, or shattered. These qualities do not diminish our existence, they help complete it.
Can we honestly & openly examine parts of us that seem troublesome or turbulent- that may bring us significant pain and dis-ease? Can we relate with kindness, care, and generosity to our own disturbances- to our own groundlessness with the unknown? A healing relationship cannot manifest without open and caring attention. This is a revelational process as the door opens our understanding to things that may have been unattended or disingenuosly attended to in our past. In our willingness to examine the grief, separation, and distance we feel in ourselves, and in our relationship to others, we open ourselves to the possibility of transformation. We feel and hold in our awareness without division or distinction.
It is our own fear and insecurity that undermines our capacity for wholeness. Preconception, assumptions, and judgment limits our ability to connect fully with ourselves and with others. We are deeply afraid to lose self-constructed aspects of “self” to relate completely and wholly the way things are. Self-protection, barriers, and boundaries are only limits we place upon ourselves to close off what we cannot come to understand.
Mindfulness is a path or Way to step into this unchartered and often groundless terrain. There is no need to define or solidify. It will reveal as we relate. Through our openness and generosity to embrace all that is as it is- leads to discovery, transformation, and healing regardless of how broken, sick, or shattered it may be.
When mindfully orientated and purposefully intended, the “heart-mind” team can open so many new avenues to see and relate to all that is troubled and turbulent. Often, disturbance is the catalyst for unanticipated development and transformation. Dancing with uncertainty is our ground for discovery of previously unforeseen possibility. Mindful relatedness has the power- and the capacity to change so much in how we ultimately connect to ourselves, others, and our species as a whole. No promises, just the space to make possible…
