‘Running Thoughts & Feelings’

For more balanced and appropriate responses to our experiences, especially those charged with emotion, we need to PAUSE… to BREATHE… and to allow space and time for our thoughts to catch up with our feelings. Knee-jerk (reflexive) reactions are conditioned by our past experiences. Emotion (impulse) often precedes our thought… giving rise to thought and thought patterns. Without this ‘space’- this observational distance or detachment- our thoughts become entangled in our ‘feeling states’- often obscured and not very precise or appropriate for the present situation.
