Chip Conley was a very successful executive in Silicon Valley who appeared to have it all. However, things radically shifted for him with the 2008 downturn in the economy, losing a number of close friends & colleagues to suicide, along with his own medical emergency. These life changing events got his attention in a big way, and Chip began to seek out answers about how to alleviate his suffering from the field of psychology. Integrating the study of mind with his sharp analytical skills, he started to come up with mathematical formulas for happiness that he could use as reminders and concrete tools to change his negative thoughts into more productive ones.
