Mindfully Me, ‘Mindfulness Muscle’

Our ‘mindfulness muscle’ is strengthened by the way we routinely use and direct our attention. It is an observing and abiding mind that objectively watches how we are as we are throughout our daily experiences… attentively noticing our automatic & habitual patterns with relaxed alertness, and gently redirecting our attention to the present moment as the mind tends to wander & grasp at all its arising stimuli & distractions.
Our conditioned response to most all of our daily experiences is to either resist or avoid what is unpleasant, and to attach to what is perceived as pleasant. To watch ourselves… to bear witness to ourselves in an open, compassionate, and nonjudgmental way helps us to better understand the nature of our experiences as well as the nature of how we relate & respond to them.
Strengthening & refining our ‘mindfulness muscle’ to simply be aware of the present moment… working with what is… as it is… will ultimately help us navigate the constant shifts, changes and daily stresses in our lives.
