PAUSE to simply BE…
‘Know Your Mind’
by meditative - October 12th, 2015.Filed under: Insights for Mindful Intelligence.
To know who we are is know our own mind- to know our thoughts, feelings, and perceptions… to know our beliefs, opinions, desires, and attachments. To know our perception of the world is to know our mind… our attitudes & dispositions for how we are and for how we relate.
Often what changes how we may be are the images & projections of mind- and it is these creations of mind that typically reflect our expectations of how we want things to be, but not necessarily the reality of things as they actually are. It is the wisdom of our own ‘mind/heart’ that ultimately brings us insight & understanding into its nature.
The mind reflects what is experienced, and yet we have the capacity to regulate that reflection. With practice and care, we can cultivate the skill to discern wholesome from unwholesome reflections. The mind doesn’t have to control us, but we need to be diligent with our intentional practice of watching over it- of observing it with openness and compassion . The more we practice, the more refined our awareness and ‘mindsight’ becomes in both ‘seeing’ and recognizing the qualities of our mind… as well as how we perceive and interpret what we experience. To know the nature of our own ‘mind/heart’ is to harness its powerful mental & intuitive energy… and what we come to clearly understand can significantly benefit our inner & outer worlds.
