Awakening
Saturday, October 12th, 2013In our practice, ‘acknowledging distraction’ is equally important as ‘recognizing attention’.
In our practice, ‘acknowledging distraction’ is equally important as ‘recognizing attention’.
The body knows and almost always shows what’s really going on inside of ourselves.
‘Effortless effort’- the ‘zone’ is a deeper state of relaxation in focus… in stillness or movement.
In this ‘experiment’, our intent is coming to know our own humanity- and there is no better laboratory than one’s own mind.
What we think, feel, or do may define our experience, but not our ‘person’.
The nature of what we experience in mind & body is personal and dynamic, yet it is not nearly the ‘whole’ of who we truly are…
The ‘watchful observer’ is like sitting in the audience of our awareness and simply witnessing the performance of our own mind.
This relaxed perseverance in reminding ourselves to be aware is wisdom at work…
With objects of attention, can we skillfully discern between ‘looking for’ and ‘looking at’ something?
No matter what the practice or discipline… it’s the ‘effort’ that makes the difference. It’s what we put into it…
