Mindfulness alters our affective responses- freed from “automaticity”, we strengthen our capacity for self-regulation. We are less disturbed by our emotional states.
The “essential you”- your “true nature” is beneath the “narrative”, constructs, conditioning, habitualness, and emotional reactivity.
Can you clearly distinguish between your primary sensory experience of bodily sensation (e.g. pain) from the secondary emotional and cognitive processes created in reaction to the primary experience?
As human beings, we all have the inherent capacity to create a world of compassion and well-being, or one of mindless violence and destruction.

Acuity of awareness or refined “mindsight” comes with a liberation from our habituation- our conditioning- and our “automaticity” to be and live within the narrow defines of a separate and pre-conceived “self”.
