‘Effort & Relaxation’

To experience genuine clarity of mind, we need to cultivate relaxed self-awareness- an abiding form of attention that’s balanced with neither too much nor too little effort. We sustain our focused attention with an open, nonjudgmental attitude… receptive and non-reactive… curious and inquisitive to know the nature of how our mind works in creating our patterns of thought and feeling.

In practice, we refine our inner capacity for both self-awareness & self-observation systematically through this ‘relaxed alertness’. Over time, we can become highly skillful in our ability to simply observe the activities of mind… even at the subtlest of levels.

In the breathing space  between our streams of thought & feeling, we learn to rest and to watch. We become available and the insight accessible for us to come to know what ‘moves’ us in the here & now…
