Just Breathe…

by meditative - December 6th, 2015

Attending to the breath does two simple things in our practice:

  1. It brings us into the present moment, and
  2. Creates space for us to open up into our awareness to simply notice what’s arising and passing.

With a curious and open attitude, we gently anchor our attention with the breath to cultivate self-awareness and concentration to stay with the moment regardless of its content. Allowing our moments to simply unfold, we can begin to notice with some clarity the nature of our thoughts and feelings that manifest with our experiences.

In the space of self-awareness and the act of simply noticing or witnessing what is… moment by moment… we can refine our capacity for self-regulation as we become less prone to identify with, and get carried away by what is presently experienced.
