The moment is ‘NOW’.
The ‘Wandering Mind’
by meditative - September 14th, 2015.Filed under: Insights for Mindful Intelligence, Zen Henry.
Our mind wanders almost 50% of the time, and to reel it in can be as simple as watching the breath. When we notice our mind has wandered off, we let go of the wandering ‘thought’ and gently bring it back to the breath.. again and again. The breath is our ‘anchor’ as it helps us to gather our scattered energies and center ourselves.
These routine movements of the mind are like a mental workout, the equivalent of repetitions in lifting free weights, with every rep strengthening the (awareness) muscle a bit more. In mindfulness practice what gets stronger are the brain’s circuits for noticing when the mind has wandered… letting go… and returning to our chosen task or focus.
