The Power of Mindsight

Refining our inner capacities of free attention and open awareness is an integral part of our contemplative training. We refer to this reflexive lens for “inner seeing” as “mindsight”. The more we practice, the more refined this instrument becomes for seeing within- for seeing both precisely and expansively things as they are. When focused and stable, mindsight helps us to note and observe the subtleties of mind and body. In its refined state, it has the capacity to both illuminate and penetrate events of mind as they occur in the field of awareness. Mindsight can cut through our obscurity and help bring clarity to habitual tendencies that limit our capacities for awareness and well-being. To see and observe clearly opens us to be more receptive and adaptive to the ever-changing contexts of our experiences. Using the open awareness and free attention of mindsight in our everyday lives can be a very skillful way of transforming our confusion and ignorance into clear sanity for a happier, more fulfilling life…
