‘Inner Seeing: Mindsight’

In the context of understanding our brain’s capacity for ‘inner seeing’- ‘mindsight’ could be referenced as the ‘mind’s eye’- the core or nucleus of our “pure awareness’. Like an internal lens, it can help modulate how we ‘see’ the events of mind & body- expansively & narrowly- clearly & directly… for what they are as they are- temporary states of thinking, feeling and sensing… and arising & falling like ‘clouds’ streaming across the clear, ‘blue sky’ of awareness.

The energy & power of ‘mindsight’ emanates from the heart of the brain’s ‘executive center’ in the prefrontal cortex. This ‘inner seeing’ lens can help to regulate how we shift & direct our ‘free attention’ to the mental phenomena occurring in the field of awareness. It can also shape how we ultimately perceive and relate to ‘events’ of mind & body.

In realizing our ability to modulate ‘free attention’ for activities of mind (i.e. thoughts, feelings & images) & body (i.e. sensations), we become empowered to regulate the neural energy & information generated from this highly integrated process. Using ‘mindsight’, we can now intentionally shift & direct our attention, as well as alter the “firing’ & ‘wiring’ of the brain… and in effect help to further regulate the body’s extended nervous system.

From this core of ‘pure awareness’…  our ‘inner seeing’ lens of ‘mindsight’ can be cultivated and refined so that we may inevitably perceive from a clearer and more discerning perspective- and so that we may willfully choose where and how to focus our attention. Centered from a place of ‘pure awareness’, this becomes possible… and we open the potential for greater integration of mind & body experiences… as well as increase our inner capacities for balance, growth & well-being.
